In an ever-changing regulatory landscape, I-Ingenuity has rebranded and relaunched from its original identity as ATEXInspect, marking a significant shift in both vision and functionality. ATEXInspect was Initially developed for managing inspections in explosive and hazardous environments, however over time the platform has expanded far beyond these origins. The transition to I-Ingenuity reflects its broader capabilities, allowing the software to cater to a wider range of industries and regions, adapting to both UKEX (for the UK) and global compliance standards.
Brexit happened.
The ATEX directive 2014/34/EU is a European Union standard that governs equipment and protective systems used in potentially explosive atmospheres. While this EU legislation was central to the original purpose of ATEXInspect, the software’s potential far exceeded these specific standards. With the UK’s departure from the EU taking place, we had to abide by different domestic regulations and along with the emergence of UKEX, it became necessary for the platform to pivot. The rebranding to I-Ingenuity was a natural step forward, symbolising a broader, more adaptable solution capable of serving industries not just limited to explosive atmospheres.
The new name, I-Ingenuity, encapsulates the company’s core mission.
The “I” stands for inspections and innovation, reflecting the platform’s digital, cloud-based inspection capabilities.
The word “Ingenuity” highlights its flexible, outside-the-box approach to solving complex industry challenges. Whether through innovative inspection workflows or bespoke solutions tailored to specific client needs, I-Ingenuity represents a new era of smart, real-time, and personalised asset management.
Meet the Founder
At the heart of I-Ingenuity’s growth is Martin Hold.
Martin is an experienced engineer with deep roots in the fields of compliance, functional safety, and engineering. With over 25 years of industrial experience, he has successfully led teams in developing cutting-edge solutions for industries ranging from process safety to compliance engineering.
At HTS Engineering Ltd, Martin led teams focused on the installation and maintenance of industrial systems, while his work at SISSuite Ltd – along with his co-owner Harvey Dearden – involved developing cloud-based software solutions for functional and process safety based on the IEC 61511 / 61508 standards.
Martin is mentored and guided by Harvey Dearden, who has been a driving force in shaping the platform’s global, cloud-based architecture with his extensive experience in hazardous area certification and compliance regulations (like DSEAR and ATEX).
Martin has continued to expand the platform, ensuring that I-Ingenuity can meet both UK and international standards. He has pushed for more versatility, mobile capabilities, and cloud-based efficiencies that would streamline industrial inspection processes globally.
We would love for this to be the case and it has the capabilities to reach a global audience.
The relaunch as I-Ingenuity signifies the platform’s readiness to serve multiple regions, including Europe, Asia, and the Americas. As businesses adopt new regulations and standards in the post-Brexit environment, I-Ingenuity helps clients navigate these changes seamlessly. Its cloud-based infrastructure is designed to be multi-regional, supporting diverse compliance frameworks like UKEX, BS EN60079-17, and PUWER, making it ideal for companies operating across borders.
The software’s functionality extends beyond basic inspections. It now offers features like real-time fault management, custom fault codes tailored to specific client needs, and remediation deadline tracking. Clients can manage everything from compliance documents to live updates from the field, ensuring that engineers, technicians, and management have access to the most up-to-date information at any given time.
This flexibility means that I-Ingenuity can adapt to the unique needs of clients in various sectors, offering personalised solutions that address both safety and operational efficiency.
The early days of ATEXInspect were characterised by the use of manual, often cumbersome inspection tools. Field workers would work on paper or rely on handheld devices, syncing data to a central station, and often face delays in reporting and fault management.
With the introduction of I-Ingenuity’s cloud-based platform, those inefficiencies have been completely eliminated. Now, inspections can be conducted using innovative mobile devices, with data being uploaded in real-time, making it easier for engineers and clients to track asset health and respond to faults as they occur.
I-Ingenuity also simplifies the auditing process for clients. With all paperwork and documentation stored digitally, compliance audits become less stressful because all the necessary data is accessible at the click of a button. In addition, the platform’s personalised features allow clients to customise their inspections and fault management workflows, making the software an integral part of their safety and maintenance routines.
Future Growth and Collaboration
We understand that every organisation is different and therefore one of the standout features of I-Ingenuity is its commitment to client collaboration.
